Review: MAC Cosmetics Sandy B Lipstick

Ah, MAC Cosmetic's Sandy B. This color is gorgeous! It's a mix of pink and pale, creamy coral with a light golden shimmer. The shimmer almost makes it a subtle duochrome. The color is buildable, but I usually use two swipes and it's slightly transparent. I think this color helps to "brighten" my olive skin tone. The golden shimmer helps reflect light particles as well as helps to create a very healthy and complimenting warmth to my lips. Sandy B is one of my top 3 nude lipsticks of all time! I'm a sucker for corals, and pinks...I didn't really know how I would feel about this color at first, since most lipsticks that are coral-pink are usually more muted than I anticipate, but the color is stunning and I was pleasantly surprised! The formula is moisturizing and comfortable. It can be applied lightly as a beautiful sheer shade or layered for a more "3D" kind of depth. The consistency is creamy and even. I have found that this particular formulation lasts pretty well on my lips throughout the day. I may have to reapply after the 3rd or 4th hour, but that's to be expected with a lip product that is not a stain. Let's get down to the good stuff!

I tried to get close enough to show off it's nice golden peach shimmer.

Swatch on the left is with one layer of application. The one on the right is with 2 layers. Upon building up the coverage, there's a lot more sheen.

This picture was taken in LED lighting to show the sheen and light reflecting particles.

A more in depth look at the tiny shimmer particles. They are evenly dispersed throughout the product which makes me pretty happy.

Again I can't help but feel that this color really brightens my skin tone. It's soft and subtle, the coral shade mixed with this pink is so light and natural enough to be considered a "nude" lipstick and the golden light reflecting shimmer really brings something interesting and sophisticated to the mix. I also love applying this shade over a nude brown lipstick to help make the color a tad bit more sassy. This is going to be my Go-To Spring lipstick!

have any of you tried this shade? What did you think of it? What's your favorite "nude" lipstick?

After Christmas Sales! Delia's GOING OUT OF BUSINESS! PICTURE HEAVY!

I hope you guys are prepared for these amazing steals I stumbled upon! First off is Glambot.com. I noticed these items in their sale section:

Stila Lovely In London, Stila Kaleidoscope Collectible Eye & Lip Cheek Palette, Stila Watercolor Collectible Eye Lip & Cheek Palette, Stila Eye Palette Rockin In Rio, I personally own these Stila palettes, and they are WONDERFUL to keep in your purse, locker, desk etc. It's a whole look in a single palette!

the Balm Balmbini Palette,  and the ShadyLady Palette Vol. 2 are others that I personally own and are very worth the money!

Urban Decay's Asphyxia, Tease (A wonderful crease color from the Naked 3 palette!) and YDK are some of my most used Urban Decay shadows, and heck--you CAN'T beat that price!

And these Sugarpill Eyeshadow jars in Magpie, and the Atomic Trio are absolutely bold and fun!

Hautelook is having another sale with BH Cosmetics that will end on Tuesday! I broke down and purchased the Brazil Palette since it's super bright and trendy. I had been eyeballing it for about a year now, it's about time I try this brand out after hearing SO MUCH AWESOME regarding this brand on reddit! I am posting a TON of pics regarding this sale because they have SO MUCH available! Everything from Brow kits, lipsticks, palettes, blush, to makeup brushes--it's a huge variety!

I REALLY have my eyes on the 70's and 80's Palettes. That Dark Rose Palette is adorable as well!

The beautiful Brazil Palette is FINALLY mine. Awwww yiss! The Galaxy Chic Baked Palette is very sought after on quite a few makeup swapping/selling sites. It has great reviews!
The Contour and Blush  Kits would be great for beginners or those of you who are new to contouring!

The Flawless Brow Trios look great! One gel, 2 Powders...PERFECT for bringing your "Brow Game!"

I may pick up the Lippie in Passionate. It reminds me MAC's Heroine.

These brush kits would be awesome to have! I have over 30 brushes, and a Makeup Artist can never have too many! I'm planning on buying some brushes as a Giveaway item for my blog in the next 2 months...I might just snag a set for a lucky winner!

And here's another thing I'm both sad and excited for: Delia's is going out of business. This includes their stores and their online shop.

I have been ordering from this company for almost 16 years now, and it hurts my heart to see them go...that means I have to stock up on some cute stuff I guess! (Their  shoes are AMAZING. I purchased some Tye-Dye flats 3 months ago and I get so many compliments on them every time I wear them out!) Here's some REALLY great deals right now:

Dresses for $6!? I found these in the Clearance Section!

Again, these are in the Clearance Section.

Glitter Heels in the Clearance Section for $7.50!? Yes please. There's no place like home!

Jeans for $7.50 and up in the Clearance Section. You could literally get 5 pairs on discount for the price of one pair at regular price. Now that's how I shop!

What sales are you excited for? Any recommendations on BH Cosmetics? Thanks for veiwing my post and have an awesome day!

Review: MAC Retro Matte Relentlessly Red Lipstick!

Looking for a rich, vibrant and sassily bright lippie to rock everyone's socks off this Winter? Look no further, this flattering bright vintage shade is here. Your Grandmother would approve! I give you, MAC Cosmetic's Retro Matte Lipstick in Relentlessly Red!

This shade can be found on the MAC Cosmetics website and retails for $16.00. They have a total of 4 fabulous shades that are "Retro Matte" to choose from. (I'm eyeing Ruby Woo)

The color is a bit different in person than it was on my monitor. It's very close to a neon pink--it's that bright! On the website, it looks closer to a true red. Don't be fooled!!! If you are okay with bright pinks and oranges on your lips, you'll love this shade! However, if you want a more traditional matte red, you'd hardly reach for this one.

This shade is such a bright one, that it's almost black light reactive! It's a neon red that borders on "pink." This color is long lasting, matte and glides on evenly. The only downfall to this particular shade is that it's a very dry formula. If you have chapped lips, do NOT wear this! ANY flaw that's on your lips will be extremely noticeable. Since the formula is pretty dry, I apply a small amount of softlips, lip balm, chapstick before applying the lipstick. That way, it will glide on over my lip's sad little wrinkles and look/feel much better than if I applied it without.

On to the swatches!
And ignore the orange lip liner. I didn't really have anything that would go with this particular color.

Notice how it hangs on the chapped part of my lips. Not an awesome formula for those of us who have chaptastic lip flaps! Exfoliation is our friend...

The swatch on the left has been built up with a few swipes. The swatch on the right is just one swipe. The coverage can be built up for opacity, but the color remains the same.

The Bottom Line:
Would I repurchase this lipstick? Probably not. The formula is too drying, and if I didn't have super chapped lips all of the freaking time, I'd love it. However, since my lips are dumb and sad most of the time, I can see this color bringing out my flaws more often than not. I really do enjoy the color though, I just wish the formula wasn't dry as a desert.

Have you guys tried the retro Mattes? What is your opinion on the formula? What do you like or dislike about them?

Indie Thursday! Armoaleigh's Lisette!

Everyone is going crazy for "Indie" cosmetics nowadays (I'm even working on my own indie line!) And I wanted to share a very beautiful pink sparkly shade with you guys. You can check out Aromaleigh's store here. This shade has been discontinued before I was able to review this shade, HOWEVER...there are shades very similar AND the quality of her products are AMAZING enough for me to review a discontinued product! (I do not normally do that because I feel that it's kinda crappy, but seriously the sparkle and shimmer in her products are simply stunning and there are similar shades to try out!)

The color is far more sparkly than the little sample bag leads on.

Here you can see some of the pretty sparkles and shimmers through the shadow.

Swatches Left to Right: Lsette on it's own, over black base, over NYX's White Eyeshadow base. I tried to get the light to catch the sheen of this shade. It looks best when used with a white base.

Out of focus for light-catching particle properties. There are TONS of light-catching particles. Seriously, this is shiny!

The color itself has an irredescent look. The color change goes from this pink to an almost purple shade. It's a medium pink with tiny metallic nude colored flecks as well as tiny blue-toned shimmer. This color has to be used with a base for maximum effect of course, however if you are new to bold colors and are looking for something soft and subtle yet out of your comfort zone, this would be a great time for you. The formula lasts very well with a primer of course (I use the Elf Essential Glitter Glue) and it lasts for around 8 hours.

Here are a few shades (Pictures have been taken from her web shop, and names of shades link to their according eyeshadow) that I think would be close enough in shade to love whole-heartedly:

Brainy Is The New Sexy

Have you tried her stuff? I've yet to actually purchase anything from her store--this sample was given to me by a friend to try out. I'm thinking about making a purchase soon! (It's so hard to just pick a few things, you know? I want to try ALL THE THINGS and I just cannot decide on things for a "blogger pack." Do you have any fave shadows from Aromaleigh? Any suggestions on ones I should try? If so I'd love to hear what you suggest!

And a quick update for my readers:

My Dad had an accident and is in the hospital right now. We were told that he's probably not going to make it, and if by some miracle he does, he's not going to be the same, nor be able to take care of himself. For those of you who knew what has been going on, I want to thank you so very much for your support during this time. I'm trying to keep my shit together, and it hasn't been easy. So thank you guys for the kind messages, the hugs and the shoulders that I've leaned/cried on these past few days. I want all of you, readers, friends and family to know that I appreciate all of you, and if you could send prayers/positive thoughts in our direction it would be lovely. Thank you for being amazeballs.

My Updated Skin Regimen! Plus Dupes for Tarte's Maracuja Oil and Peter Thomas Roth's Oilless oil!

So I've added a few more things to my daily/nightly ritual because I've been doing my own Lactic Acid peels, and because my skin gets horrible dry during the Winter. Here's my Holy Grail products.

Step 1:

I wash my face with The Face Shop's Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam. This stuff is gentle, and it brightens my skin instantly. Gotta love that, right!? I get this on Amazon and eBay, depending on which one has it for the best price. With shipping included, it usually goes for around $10.00 to $13.00 which isn't bad at all--you ONLY need a pea-sized amount because it lathers like crazy and I've been on the same tube for a little over 3 months now! Yeah totally worth every cent. I use this daily, AM and PM and also with my Clarisonic once a week. (I will be giving a VS. review soon since I just ordered myself the Foreo Luna device because the Clarisonic is WAAAAY too abrasive for my skin during Winter and even for daily use which is why I'm going to give the Foreo Luna try, so stay tuned for that!) It gives me a nice squeaky clean, but actually leaves my face feeling soft and moisturized. I started using this about two years ago, and I'm only on my fourth tube!

Rice water is gentle and is very rich in B Vitamins called "inositol." They help promote new cell growth, slow down the aging process and stimulates blood flow as well as has antioxidant and UV absorbing properties, and is very moisturizing. Yep, it's awesome!

Step 2:
After my face dries, I apply a serum that I've raved NONSTOP about for over a year now. (I use this AM and PM) It's the  60% Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C and Matrixyl 3000 Serum from *body-bling* on eBay and it's ONLY around $14.00 shipped! (Verses over $80 from other brands with the SAME amount of the very SAME ingredients and for less product even!) The company even packages it in the SAME FACILITY as some of the high-ended competitors--the reason why they can sell it for so cheap is because the packaging is rather plain. I'm totally okay with that if it's going to make me look/feel amazing and it saves me a ton of cash! Don't "think" about buying this product--do it right now! Your skin will thank you.

I've even received a TON of emails from you guys about how my suggestion had A: Saved you guys a crap-ton of money, B: Lightened scars, hyper pigmentation, sun spots and helped with acne, C: Dramatically reduced your wrinkles while leaving your skin softer, moisturized, healthier looking, and brighter than ever! First of all, I want to thank every single one of you who provided me with your success stories, especially the two sisters who've tried EVERYTHING under the sun and who no longer have to buy $100+ products a month. I enjoyed reading your emails, and I swear on my life that this product has helped my friends (I ended up getting a few friends hooked on this stuff) and I will NEVER let go of this product--EVER. When combined with my Lactic Acid Peels, I feel like I look better now than I did when I was in High School. I'm not even kidding.

Step 3:
I moisturize with 2 types of oil that I mix a few drops of each together in my hands before applying to my face (AM and PM) this is the Maracuja Oil from Dr. Adorable for $7.69 with free shipping, the company is a family owned business that sells on many different sites (their eBay shop is where I go) and the other oil is Squalane Oil from Skin Beauty Solutions which I purcahsed for $11.00 with free shipping. I mix 3 drops of each together in my hand and apply this to my face and my neck. (before applying makeup as well as before bed)

Maracuja Oil is so many things...emollient, anti-inflammitory, antioxidant, treats sun damaged skin, is rich in vitamin c replenishes and hydrates skin when combined with all of the fatty acids in this product, so in a nutshell, it makes skin firmer, brighter and smoother. Which of course is amazing! If you've been wanting to try Tarte's version but aren't happy about the price tag for the amount you get--try this from Dr. Adorable. You'll love it!

Squalane Oil is an oil that is either derived from Olives or Shark Liver. It's an antioxidant, prevents UV damage and age spots, promotes cell growth and is also antibacterial, plus it's a wonderful moisturizer and keeps your skin hydrated. Your skin produces less oil after your early 20's, and so it's very important to keep it moisturized! This is also a pretty good dupe for Peter Thomas Roth Oilless Oil and for a waaaaaay better price!

Step 4: (PM ONLY) I then apply a product that will help lock in moisture overnight. For this, I am VERY fond of TonyMoly's Dual Repair Sleeping Pack for under $16.00 on eBay. This stuff lasts me a loooong time. I only use half a pump for my face and neck. My skin looks so amazing when I wake up in the morning and wash it! It looks more full, vibrant and well rested.

WHY IT ROCKS: This seriously keeps the moisture locked in! I wake up looking and feeling more rested, vibrant and my skin looks so much brighter. This product has 2 ingredients that make a world of difference--Arbutin for skin whitening/brightening and Adenosine which helps produce collagen to prevent sagging and aging. I use this nightly, but for those of you who have oily skin, once a week would work wonderfully for you!

So there you guys have it, my crazy skin regimen. I can't wait to update this post with more information on the Foreo Luna! I've been hearing some amazing reviews about it, and I'm so excited that I'm possibly going to buy one for a Giveaway here in a month or two for a lucky reader to fall in love with as well! I loved my Clarisonic and I will still use it once a week, but it's just too harsh on my skin even with the sensitive brush heads PLUS it's costing me so much money...at least with the Foreo Luna, I will never need to purchase anything else after I have it in my hands! So, yeah I am way excited to share my experience with you guys as soon as I get it!

What's your skincare regimen? I'd love to hear what works for you!

Tutorial: Duochrome Plum Using the Sleek MakeUp Celestial Palette

Aww Yiss! I'm bringing out some Holiday Fun with a twist! This look is absolutely stunning. The duochrome shade in that palette is subtle, and has enough flashiness to keep eyes wandering back.

Products Used:

(Pre-tutorial= Tape and Elf Smudge Pot in Pearls of Wisdom as a base)
Sleek Celestial Palette
Wet N Wild Fergie liner in Little Black Dress
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Riot
Elf Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Beauty Queen
Maybelline Matte Lipstick in Lust For Blush (Freaking GORGEOUS!)
Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara
Too Faced Perfect Black Eyeliner
Benefit Dallas Blush

Step 1: I applied the matte red shade from this palette onto my crease, and blended the shade upwards and outwards.

Step 2: I then applied the sparkly pink/purple shade directly on top of the matte red shade (on my crease) I blended this shade upwards and outwards as well. I also applied a bit on the outer edge of my eyelid.

Step 3: I then applied the matte red to my entire eyelid.

Step 4: I then applied the duochrome red/green shade right on top of the matte red on my eyelid only. I stopped at the crease.

Step 5: I then applied a bit of the sparkly black shade into the outer edge of my crease as well as the outer edge of my eyelid. I blended it upwards and outwards.

Step 6: I applied the Elf Mineral Pressed Eyeshadow in Beauty Queen under my brow as a highlight.

Step 7: I then used the Wet N Wild Fergie Gel Liner in Little Black Dress along my upper lash line and created a cat-eye.

Step 7: I then applied the Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Riot along my lower lash line and I applied the Too Faced Perfect Black Liner to my water line.

Step 8: I then applied a coat of the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara to my lashes.

Step 9: I swept Benefit's Dallas Blush onto my cheekbones.

Step 10: I opted for a nice light berry matte shade by Maybelline in Lust For Blush onto my lips.

The Finished Look:

I love how simple this look is, and how the duochrome shade lights up this look and keeps this look fun and interesting! Would any of you wear this look out? Can any of you recommend some of your fave duochrome eyeshadow? I'm going to need more!
